Shree Krishna Janmastami

Evey body has a birthday every year, you may say, why makes such a fuss about krishna's brithday. Why he is so special that you rush out and buy presents for him, take the day off work, fast all day from food and even water and spend the whole  day glorifying Him. Do you think He's God or somthing!?

Well, as a matter of fact, He is God. The "Supreme Personality of Godhead", to be exact. the fountainhead of all existence, the source of all creation and most of all..... the well wishing friend of all living bring. He loves us.
We buy each other gifts on our brithday and we do this as expressions of our love and affection. So why not do the same for Krishna. Our family and friend give us their affection and shelter you say, what is Krishna giving?Is He giving me love and affection? Just think for a moment. Who is supplying those nice sunny days, that beautiful beach, your food each day, your intelligence, even your own body
. It is Krishna the source of everything. It doesn't take much to figure out that there must be an intelligent supplies behind everything that we experience. Something can't come from nothing. And the beauty and diversity of this world hints at the beauty and dinersity within Krishna.
Love of Krishna takes a little practice. Love is not something that we just manifest immediately. "Oh I love you" you may say to the first person you meet, well you could say you feel LUST for the person, that would be closer to the truth. But to say you love someone really means that you know them intimately. you reciprocate felling and appreciate them for what they are, and they appreciate you for what you are. Love is a very deep experience. It's can't, by definition, be shallow or cheap. So it is spiritual love for Krishna. You have to work at it. That's why we chant His name, That's why we visit His temple and bow down to Him, That's why we honor His appearance day. We are practicing loving Him. In Hinduism this called Sadhana Bhakti, or the preliminary processes of devotional service. Lets us not be miserly. We want to love. It is what drives us. But we have to know that only Krishna can give us the full and compete love we are hankering for. Why forsake Him?
Life without Krishna can only be a void. Human being have developed consciousness, developed feeling and by nature's arrangement we are meant to direct these to Krishna or we will be frustrated.
Material relationship give some happiness and satisfaction but if we are honest we will know that we need more and only Krishna  can give the most "more" Hinduism means unlimited love, unlimited happiness but we must pay the price. The price is simply our desire to have it. and the desire is nurtured by means of practice and purification, giving up sinful habit. We can stay by chanting His holy name and reading about His glories and of course honoring Him on His birthday, Janmastami. This isn't difficult, it's fun. As Spiritual Master said  "What ia the difficult?" If there is any difficult  it is in our miserliness. If we surrender to Krishna, give Him our love we won't be disappointed.
